social media + differences in tone

I was actually going to make a post detailing the discourse hellscape I'm stumbling around in lately but I feel like I've rehashed that enough already so have my articulation of the difference between posting on tumblr, dreamwidth, and discord

dreamwidth: I'm trying to leave every post open-ended, or have a 'hook' at the end that allows people to hold onto it and engage with it. I want comments, because that's the only validation available.

discord: talking. knowing I'm talking, that this is a public room with other people in it. we can have private conversations, though even private conversations feel like they're being had in a public space...weird but NOT bad

tumblr: I'm trying HARD to wrap up each post, so that it stands on its own. the posts I want to be reblogged I try extra hard to leave no room for error or for people to jump in and say things that might derail my point. I want a conclusion to each post, so that it's rebloggable and likeable.

There's more differences I've noticed, but this is the one that really stuck out to me currently.
