Mar. 5th, 2019 03:56 pmI finally pinned down what it is about this post that makes me real angry and it’s like....you know we’re supposed to go out of our way to reckon with the specificity of your identity when you’re gay but when the ~libqueer mogais~ make up exhaustively accurate terminology to describe themselves suddenly we’re back to “just call yourself gay/bi/straight” (never ace 🤔).......we can’t reckon with the specificity of mogai genders and sexualities but we have to do that for gay people...we can erase the identities of people who use mogai words but when we do it to gay people it’s an unacceptable act of violence......to be quite clear I am not advocating that we erase the identities of gay people I just want us to think critically about why we perceive both mogai specificity and queer universality to be erasure of gay people; why is gay the only acceptable option, why is it the only one worth protecting, what is it about gay people that makes them worth more than mogais and queers
